Tenth in terms of population in the country, a major industrial and transport hub of Russia, Omsk is not the worst city to live in. In Siberia, this is one of the most developed cities, where there is everything - from historical monuments to the benefits of civilization. There are many industrial enterprises, secondary and higher educational institutions for work and study. For life and recreation - shops, large federal hypermarkets "Auchan" and "Lenta", parks, restaurants, theaters and cinemas. The city is big, beautiful, with developed infrastructure. Only the environment leaves much to be desired, but according to studies, the level of air pollution has been declining in recent years, despite the abundance of manufacturing enterprises. Each district of the city has its pros and cons.If you are planning to move to Omsk, check out the ranking of its best areas to live.
Top 5. October

- On the map
An industrial area with a huge number of enterprises. Despite this, there is not the highest level of air pollution. It is better to look after an apartment in the center of the district, closer to Bohdan Khmelnitsky Street. On the outskirts, the air is polluted with emissions from thermal power plants and industrial enterprises. The area is a sleeping area, there are no large shopping centers, entertainment, higher educational institutions. But on the other hand, there is a park beloved by the inhabitants of Omsk with attractions for children and adults. Transport accessibility is lower compared to other areas. The housing stock is represented mainly by secondary real estate. Despite all the shortcomings, the Oktyabrsky district is quite suitable for life. It is quiet here, there are enough grocery stores, kindergartens, schools and hospitals.
- Quiet area
- Lots of grocery stores
- Amusement park
- Satisfactory ecology
- Few new buildings
- Low transport accessibility
Top 4. Central
Infrastructure is developed in the Central District of Omsk. Most of the theaters, cinemas, restaurants, squares and parks are concentrated here.
- Average cost of housing: 65367 rubles/sq.m.
- Conditions for children: 48 kindergartens, 39 schools
- Medicine: 129 medical institutions, 8 hospitals, 2 maternity hospitals

- Culture: 3 theatres, 4 cinemas, 12 libraries
- On the map
Historical and administrative center of the city. Cultural life is concentrated in the Central District - theaters, cinemas, museums, libraries. The infrastructure is best developed here, there is no shortage of shops, transport, jobs, basic and additional educational institutions for children. The area is landscaped and makes a good impression - squares, parks. But the environment is not the best, the air in the center of the district is polluted due to the huge number of cars. Another disadvantage is connected with this - even the expansion of roads cannot cope with traffic jams. If you definitely want to live in the center, you should consider the outskirts of the area. A new microdistrict Amur-2 is being built here, not far from it are the Lenta and Leroy Merlin hypermarkets. For lovers of houses, not apartments, there is a private sector. The air is cleaner on the outskirts, but there is less public transport. The city center is good for work, entertainment, but you can choose an area with the best ecology for living.
- Good transport accessibility
- A lot of entertainment
- Easy to find a job
- Lots of squares and parks
- Air pollution
- There are often traffic jams

- Average cost of housing: 61404 rubles/sq.m.
- Conditions for children: 43 kindergartens, 36 schools
- Medicine: 61 medical institutions, 6 hospitals, maternity hospital

- On the map
The Soviet district of Omsk is located in the northern part of the city, on the right bank of the Irtysh River. The territory is divided by the private sector and high-rise buildings. The area is not the best to live in because of the oil refinery, whose emissions pollute the air when the wind direction is unfavorable. The industrial zone occupies 68% of the entire territory of the district, and only 32% of the area is allocated for residential buildings. Tranquility is disturbed by roads overloaded with transport and noisy companies of students. In a small area there are 5 higher educational institutions. This is due to the abundance of rental housing and high rental rates. The construction of new residential complexes is underway, but not as actively as in other areas. With transport accessibility, everything is in order, from here you can get to anywhere in the city. No problem with grocery stores. The Soviet district is good in terms of work, study, but it will be uncomfortable to live in it.
- Many universities
- Transport accessibility
- Shops close to home
- Easy to get a job
- Large industrial area
- Bad ecology
- noisy area
Top 2. Leninist

The best place to stay in the Leninsky district is the section from the railway station to the circus. There are many shopping and entertainment centers, public transport is good. The area is considered industrial. According to studies, numerous enterprises have not caused obvious harm to the environment, air pollution is not much beyond the norm. The city administration is planning to improve the pond, which is now in disrepair, with the creation of a park area around it. There is no shortage of jobs. - Average cost of housing: 71713 rubles/sq.m.
- Conditions for children: 31 schools, 34 kindergartens
- Medicine: 29 medical institutions, 4 hospitals, maternity hospital
- Ecology: unfavorable, insufficient landscaping

- On the map
The Kirovsky district of Omsk is located on the left bank of the Irtysh. In recent years, it has been actively improved, but is still heterogeneous - the private sector is interspersed with wastelands and new residential areas. Now the highest and most modern houses in the city are being built here, the choice of housing is large, but the apartments are expensive. Entertainment in the Kirovsky district is not much. Most of the theaters, cinemas, nightclubs and restaurants are located on the other side of the river. But it cannot be said that there is absolutely nowhere to spend time on the left bank, there are still several places of entertainment. Of the higher educational institutions in the region, two universities accept students - the Omsk Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Omsk Academy of Economics and Entrepreneurship. There are enough kindergartens and schools, there are additional educational institutions. It's good with shops in the Kirovsky district. There are Leroy Merlin, Auchan, shopping centers and hypermarkets. Residents of other districts flock to the left bank for shopping on weekends. Therefore, there are problems with traffic jams and the environment, air pollution is above the norm.
- New residential complexes
- Lots of shopping malls
- Enough schools and kindergartens
- Transport accessibility
- Air pollution
- Little entertainment
