The laptop processor is a separate segment of the market, also divided by the giants AMD and Intel, but on which there was little room for Apple proprietary solutions. The key differences between "laptop chips" are reduced heat dissipation, smaller dimensions and installation on the motherboard by soldering, which practically nullifies the possibility of upgrading a laptop for an ordinary user.

Of course, this segment is developing its own technology competition, primarily aimed at energy saving. Intel and AMD are almost head to head, which is somewhat confusing for consumers choosing a new laptop. Does not add clarity and the abundance of models within individual lines, which are updated every year, creating even more confusion.

We have studied the market in detail and selected the best processors from Intel / AMD, including in the selection both chips suitable for office work and the best options for gaming laptops. The rating itself is divided into two "sections": first, the CPUs of past generations are presented, which continue to be relevant for purchase in 2021, and then the popular latest innovations are presented. Let's add that in the column price of the characteristics of the rating participants, the average cost of laptops based on the processor in question is indicated.

The other day I bought a laptop from HP on a "bronze" processor from AMD A-12 with the ability to simultaneously run two video cards built-in R7 and discrete 530, while I'm still sorting it out, it seems that it is not in the lead in terms of slowness, it calmly opens simple programs and applications, but another one has arisen the problem is overheating. With a "standard" load without complex graphics and games, it heats up to 60-70 degrees, I'm just afraid to run games under such conditions. I read on the forums that this is just a flaw of HP, there is a cooling system like on Atom, but even in comparison with I3 it is very hot

I tried the entire line of budget Core i3 processors from Intel up to the Kaby Lake generation. And you know what? The numbers that they show in the tests do not reflect reality. In fact, all processors from Intel, even with DDR4, somehow turn applications around.
AMD is another matter. once I was given a laptop with AMD A6-3420 for repair, and since then I have gradually transferred my entire company to computers with AMD. I am shocked that the old A6-3420, which is compared in tests with Celerons and Pentiums, actually turned out to be a head taller than the Core i3-5010U, 6006U and the like. I will never buy an intel in the mid-range and budget segment again, as their processors do not perform as well as they are asked for ....
