Beginner skiers do not need professional-level equipment at all. And it’s not even that the skis for Olympians are an order of magnitude higher - it’s very difficult for an unprepared athlete to ride them. They are more rigid and do not forgive mistakes - falls and premature fatigue will be provided.
How to choose skiing for beginners
It is not enough to take into account the height and weight of the athlete when choosing skiing. It is important to take into account the place of the proposed skiing, the riding style and even the character of the skier. Only then will they bring the sensations expected from the descents.
Length. Skis must be 15 cm less than the height of the beginner. Above average weight people should take the next tallest pair - they are a little stiffer and will have better grip. One size larger, you can take the first skis and an athlete of a different profile, if you are sure that the descents from the mountains will quickly “go uphill” for you.
Waist width. For prepared slopes, the optimal waist is 73-79 mm. Skis with a waist of 80-90 mm will easily go downhill with any quality of its preparation, but they are more difficult to manage.
Geometry. It is indicated by the ratio of the width of the toe to the waist and heel, in brackets indicate the optimal height of the athlete. The wider the toe compared to the waist, the easier the ski will turn. The narrower the heel, the more maneuverable the ski and the easier it goes into slipping.
turning radius. For training, skis with a short radius are better suited. For women - 11-14 meters, for men - 12-15 meters.
The weight. Light skis are easier to handle and easier for a beginner to learn to ride, but light skis are much easier to throw off course. The parameter is also important for those who fly on airplanes or plan a ski tour with long ascents.
Mounts. In the model of bindings that are indicated in the characteristics of the skis, a number is indicated (usually 10.12 or 14). This is the upper value of the DIN actuation force range, the most common of which are: 3-10, 4-12, 5-14. To select fasteners, you need to divide your weight by 10. The resulting value should be in the middle of the range. Those. for a skier weighing 80 kg, the optimal bindings are 4-12, i.e. in the characteristics of which is the number 12.

The Pure Joy SLRs are built on the LIBRA architecture, a low-profile, lightweight graphene construction for easy handling at any speed. Rigid ABS sidewalls and a graphene backing give the ski grip and durability. The Allride rocker makes them all-terrain and makes them easy for women to ride.
