1. Design
The appearance of TVsAll three devices are very similar to each other. Since they do not belong to the premium segment, the services of designers were not used in their design. As a result, the thickness of the screen frame determines the winner. Samsung UE65TU7100U boasts the smallest parameter. No wonder when advertising it, the emphasis is on frameless design.
As for the two competitors, they also use two legs as a stand. On the Sony TV, they are shifted closer to the center. Perhaps both of these devices deserve the same number of points.
Of course, all the models we have chosen can be used without legs - there are holes on their back panel for attaching to a wall bracket. In this case, the difference between the three TVs is erased even more.
2. Display
The screen is the most important part of a TVFor all three devices, not the biggest money is asked. In this regard, it makes no sense to expect from them a display created using OLED or QLED technology. The LJI company did not even become generous with the NanoCell coating. In all three cases, you will find an 8-bit matrix, supplemented by FRC technology. This suggests HDR support, but not up to the mark. However, for the vast majority of our readers, this is enough.
Name | Permission | Matrix type | Frequency | Viewing angles | Black Depth |
LG 65UP75006LF | 4K | IPS | 60 Hz | + | - |
Samsung UE65TU7100U | 4K | VA | 60 Hz | - | + |
Sony KD-65XG7096 | 4K | IPS | 60 Hz | + | - |
We draw your attention to the fact that the technology for manufacturing displays is still different. LG and Sony have made their choice in favor of IPS. This means that TVs will produce a brighter picture that can be viewed from any angle. As for Samsung, it has introduced a VA matrix. The buyer is waiting for a deeper black color. You will have to pay for this with less wide viewing angles.
The characteristics of all three screens are approximately the same. The frame rate is standard, the same word can now be called 4K resolution. The diagonal of the displays differs insignificantly - for LG and Sony it is 0.5 inches smaller. Only a Samsung TV has an honest 65 inches.
And who should be preferred? Complex issue. It seems to us that with such a huge screen diagonal, viewing angles become less important than black depth. Therefore, the VA-matrix deserves a higher rating.
3. Smart TV
We evaluate the capabilities of the operating systemOur comparison could not do without mentioning Smart TV. All three devices have smart functionality, so they do not require the connection of the corresponding set-top box. LG has installed webOS. It is one of the best operating systems of its kind. You are waiting for simple controls and a moderately wide range of applications.
As for Samsung, it traditionally develops its own operating system, called Tizen. The interface is also very easy to learn and manage. And the firmware also supports voice control. The speed of work is excellent.
Alas, Sony began work on its own TV OS quite recently. In this regard, the Sony KD-65XG7096 received a firmware based on Linux.Someone will consider this a virtue, because an incredibly huge number of programs have been created for this operating system. But the average shopper will instead note the not-so-friendly interface. Yes, and the search for these very applications is not implemented in the best way. Alas, but with dignity Smart TV is implemented only on much more expensive Sony TVs.
4. Remote control
How convenient is managementMany expensive LG TVs usually come with a Magic Remote, which includes a gyroscope and a microphone. But the model we have chosen is one of the most affordable among those equipped with a 65-inch display. In this regard, the manufacturer decided to save money by equipping the kit with an ordinary remote control that works through an infrared port. The accessory has a crowded arrangement of buttons, and it is far from always possible to press them correctly, especially if the lights are off in the room. Of course, the firmware itself supports Magic Remote, but you need to buy it separately.
The Sony KD-65XG7096 is also equipped with the most common remote control. But here at least the buttons are arranged differently - you can safely press them blindly. Well, the lack of a microphone can definitely be forgiven, especially with the operating system that is installed on the Sony TV.
A comparison of remotes could win a TV from Samsung. But the South Koreans also decided to save money. As a result, you will find an accessory with a large number of buttons that sends signals via infrared. But it should be noted that the buttons are not too crowded. As a result, the product only slightly loses to what comes with the device from Sony.
5. Sound
How good is the built-in speaker system?Typically, such large TVs receive powerful speakers that can sound a room with a large area. However, today we are talking about relatively inexpensive devices with a screen diagonal of 65 inches. Therefore, it should not surprise you that their manufacturers decided to save money on a speaker system.
Name | Number of speakers | Power | Low frequencies |
LG 65UP75006LF | 2 | 20 W | - |
Samsung UE65TU7100U | 2 | 20 W | - |
Sony KD-65XG7096 | 2 | 20 W | - |
It is sad when the image is displayed in 4K resolution, and the sound does not please with either volume or volume. Namely, this can be said about all three TVs. All of them received two speakers with a total power of 20 watts. Barely noticeable differences are perceptible only in direct comparison. And we can safely say that in the future you will definitely want to connect a soundbar or home theater. There are no obstacles to this.
6. Interfaces
What wireless modules and connectors do TVs haveThe Japanese did not save on trifles. As a result, their device boasts the largest number of connectors. The rear panel has three USB ports and the same number of HDMI inputs. There is also an Ethernet port here. It can come in handy, because the bandwidth of the Wi-Fi standard is sometimes not enough to quickly download content in 4K resolution.
LJI and Samsung did not endow their TVs with an abundance of connectors. They believe that two HDMI inputs and one USB port will be enough. Whether this is so is up to you.
Name | HDMI | USB | Audio | Wireless |
LG 65UP75006LF | 2 pcs. | 1 PC. | Optic | Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac |
Samsung UE65TU7100U | 2 pcs. | 1 PC. | Optic | Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac |
Sony KD-65XG7096 | 3 pcs. | 3 pcs. | 3.5 mm optical | WiFi 802.11n |
In terms of wireless modules, the South Koreans outperform their Japanese counterpart. First, they support high-speed Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Secondly, they have at their disposal a Bluetooth module that simplifies the connection of headphones. But if you want to use a wired accessory, then only the Sony TV has a corresponding socket.
7. Price
The price tag for all models is different.Formally, all three TVs are considered budget. However, this does not mean that they will please with a very low cost. For a 65-inch screen diagonal, you will have to pay a tangible amount. The LJI company asks for the least. However, in some online stores, her TV costs almost the same as a Samsung device, so we can't award it too high a mark.
Name | average price |
LG 65UP75006LF | 56 000 rub. |
Samsung UE65TU7100U | 59 900 rub. |
Sony KD-65XG7096 | 84 000 rub. |
As for the Sony KD-65XG7096, many sellers are asking for almost 90 thousand rubles for this model. It is not surprising that the TV is still present on store shelves, although it was released two years ago. The sad thing is that new products from this company are even more expensive, and therefore they did not fall into this comparison. Like it or not, but their price-quality ratio is far from ideal.
8. Comparison results
Who became the winner? If you look at the resulting average score, then the victory is on the side of Samsung UE65TU7100U. But really, it all depends on your preferences. If viewing angles are important to you, then it is better to purchase a TV from LG.If you absolutely need good contrast and decent black depth, then Samsung really looks more interesting.
Alas, the two South Koreans differ only in the display. The rest of their components are about the same. This applies to both the speaker system and connectors. Even operating systems offer a similar arsenal of features.
As for the Sony TV, it has the worst value for money. It is completely incomprehensible why the Japanese are asking for such money. Against the background of competitors, the device stands out only for its remote control, and even that cannot be considered the height of perfection. And we must not forget that the same LG allows you to buy Magic Remote in the future - it will definitely be recognized by the system.
