1. Design
Let's take a look at the appearance of devicesAlmost all smart watch manufacturers have abandoned the square display. This is due to the fact that they want to make their creation look like traditional "mechanics". As a result, all four models we have chosen have a round screen at their disposal. Only its dimensions differ, in connection with which the dimensions of the watches themselves turn out to be different.
Name | Dimensions | The weight | Frame | Strap |
HONOR MagicWatch 2 | 45.9x45.9x10.7mm | 41 g | stainless steel steel | Silicone |
Huawei Watch GT2 Pro | 53.6x46.7x11.4mm | 52 g | Ceramic, titanium | Polymer |
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 | 44x44x10.9mm | 44 g | stainless steel steel | Leather |
Xiaomi Mi Watch | 45.9x53.3x11.8mm | 32 g | Polyamide | Silicone |
It should be noted that some models exist in several versions. For example, on sale you can find Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 with an aluminum or stainless steel case. In the second case, you will find a 44-gram or 37-gram device, depending on its size. Our choice fell on the 44mm model, which will look perfect on a man's hand. For girls, it's better to consider buying the 40mm version, which has a slightly smaller screen.
All the smart watches we chose were created from high-quality materials. In a word, it cannot be said about them that they look cheap. Even the Xiaomi product does not cause any particular complaints. Smart watch from Honor gets a higher rating only for brutality - this model is more like an ordinary wristwatch than the others. But you need to understand that this, on the contrary, will scare someone away from buying.
All watches included in our comparison can be used in the pool or even the sea. Their creators assure that the device will withstand diving to a depth of 50 m.

2. Accessories
Memory and processorThe HONOR Magic Watch 2 was designed at a time when the brand was part of Huawei. In this regard, it is not surprising that they are based on the Kirin A1 processor. Also under their body are hidden 4 GB of permanent memory. A little, but the watch does not assume that you will store a large amount of music on it or something like that.
A device from Huawei, which was designed in parallel, can boast of similar characteristics. The same amount of memory is present in watches from Samsung, but they use a dual-core Exynos 9110 as a processor. The difference between the chips is minimal, they provide almost the same speed.
As for Xiaomi, this manufacturer does not disclose exactly which components are placed inside. This is due to the fact that the buyer does not have the opportunity to somehow use the built-in memory in his own way. This watch does not have a built-in MP3 player. They don't even provide access to the app store! However, we will talk about this below.

3. Screen
LCD SpecificationsAs already mentioned, all devices received a round screen. Its diagonal for all models is almost identical, for Samsung it is the largest by 0.01 inches. The manufacturing technology is almost the same - in any case, this or that AMOLED specification. The difference lies in the details. For example, almost all devices have a function due to which this or that information is displayed continuously. And only watches from Huawei are deprived of it. However, it is possible that it will be added with the next software update.
Name | Type of | Diagonal | Permission |
HONOR MagicWatch 2 | AMOLED | 1.39 inches | 454x454 pixels |
Huawei Watch GT2 Pro | AMOLED | 1.39 inches | 454x454 pixels |
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 | Super AMOLED | 1.4 inches | 360x360 pixels |
Xiaomi Mi Watch | AMOLED | 1.39 inches | 454x454 pixels |
In fact, the Samsung smart watch screen looks a little worse than the display of any of the competitors. This is because it has a lower resolution. The South Koreans saved money, because in their assortment there are even more expensive watches, where the screen with a higher pixel density hit.
4. Sensors
Estimate the number of built-in modulesModern smartwatches are made up of many electronic components. And we are talking only about the memory and processor mentioned above. Such devices are ready to boast of wireless modules and a variety of sensors. But you need to understand that in this comparison we are considering far from the most expensive smartwatches, so do not rely on their special abundance. For example, devices are deprived of an ECG and a thermometer. But they all have a heart rate monitor. There are absolutely no complaints about the accuracy of his testimony.
Name | Altimeter | heart rate monitor | oxygen sensor | NFC | speaker | Microphone |
HONOR MagicWatch 2 | - | + | - | - | + | + |
Huawei Watch GT2 Pro | + | + | + | - | - | + |
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 | - | + | - | + | + | + |
Xiaomi Mi Watch | + | + | + | - | - | + |
Of course, the devices are able to monitor the physical activity of the user. It would be strange if they did without a gyroscope and an accelerometer. Interestingly, Xiaomi and Huawei got their hands on an atmospheric pressure sensor. With its help, the information is significantly refined - the system understands that you are not just walking, but making an ascent, due to which more calories are spent. And this watch also has a compass, which can also be useful in some cases.
The device from Samsung stands out from the background of its brothers by the presence of not only a microphone, but also a speaker. This means that it can be used to talk to the caller. Of course, this is done using a smartphone, because the watch does not have its own SIM card. A similar feature is implemented in HONOR MagicWatch 2. The other two gadgets have only a microphone used to receive voice commands.
The choice in favor of a South Korean device is worth making if you are going to pay for purchases with it. Among the four, these are the only smart watches with an NFC chip.

5. Working hours
How soon does the watch need to connect the charger? All devices received a different battery at their disposal. The watch also has a different firmware used, which will be discussed below. Somewhere it is great optimized, and somewhere the software actively consumes electricity. As a result, smartwatches differ the most in battery life.Oddly enough, the best choice in this regard is a device from Xiaomi. The Chinese do not allow you to install additional applications, as a result of which the hardware is optimized for specific tasks solved by the gadget. Even if you activate the aforementioned Always-On feature, when the display constantly shows the time and other information, you can expect to use the charger once every five days. And if you turn down the brightness and reduce the number of measurements, then charging will be required once every ten days!
Watches from Huawei and Honor were created according to the same patterns. Therefore, similar battery life awaits you. They need to be charged a little more than once a week. With not the most intense load. And without the included GPS tracker, of course.
Samsung smart watches show themselves worst of all. Alas, the Tizen operating system is not as energy efficient as we would like. The charge dries up after two or three days. And if you want to use the watch as an MP3 player, then the situation will be even worse. Not to mention the conversation with the interlocutor, when the charge ends literally before our eyes.

6. Functions
Checking firmware optionsModern smart watches can do a lot. Even such inexpensive ones that were included in our comparison. Basically, they are all designed to measure physical activity. In particular, a device from Samsung. Among the types of training it supports - almost everything that you can imagine. Of course, swimming is not forgotten. Two buttons and a virtual bezel are used for control. Mechanical, alas, remained in more expensive watches. The clock allows you to view statistics, control music playback, use a timer and perform many other actions. To expand the functionality, an application store is designed, which you can enter directly from the watch. In this regard, it is impossible to find fault with the device.
HONOR and Huawei also know how to do a lot. The first, for example, are distinguished by the ability to measure the level of stress. Health information is sent to the corresponding application on the smartphone. Perhaps it is to him that the greatest questions arise - the interface seems very boring (at least for HONOR). The resolution of the screen should please, thanks to which, most often, the entire text of the incoming message is placed on it. As for sports modes, they include seven indoor workouts and eight outdoor workouts. In watches from Huawei, you will find about the same set. And this device is also ready to measure the level of oxygen in the blood, which is important in our time.
An oxygen sensor is also available in smart watches from Xiaomi. As for training, when walking or running, you can activate the GPS chip - in this case, the route and speed indicators will be saved. However, competitors can do it too. This smartwatch is also capable of monitoring sleep and stress. They can also measure more than a hundred other types of physical activity. The list even includes archery and kite flying!
However, the Xiaomi product still loses to the rest of the clock. Why? It's just that there is no way to install additional applications. If you come up with an atypical scenario for using smartwatches, you will have to moderate your imagination. To be fair, most buyers should be happy with the built-in functionality.
7. Price
The price of all devices is significantly differentAs mentioned above, smartwatches from Xiaomi are cheaper than others. This makes them the best choice for the person looking to save money. The low cost is due to limited firmware, as already mentioned. HONOR smart watches are much more expensive. And this is the case when it makes sense to overpay, because you will get wider functionality.
Name | average price |
HONOR MagicWatch 2 | RUB 10,590 |
Huawei Watch GT2 Pro | RUB 17,590 |
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 | RUB 16,990 |
Xiaomi Mi Watch | 9 190 rub. |
As for products from Huawei and Samsung, they have similar positioning and almost identical price tags. This is a watch for those who demand the most features.
8. Comparison results
Who is declared the winner?Smart watches from Samsung exist in the largest number of options. And they provide the widest functionality. But everything is spoiled by the high price and very fleeting battery life. Because of this, I do not want to recommend them at all. No wonder the device received such a low average score.
The winner of our comparison was the Xiaomi product. Here the price has played its role. But you need to be prepared for the fact that after the purchase you will be limited strictly to the functionality that is already sewn into the watch. If you do not want to put up with this, it is better to take a look at the gadget from HONOR. Just don't rely on regular firmware updates. The fact is that now the manufacturer has separated from Huawei, in connection with which he ceases to pay due attention to his old products.
