1. Design
We evaluate the appearance and stand of monitorsLet's start with the fact that the models we have chosen do not belong to the top price segment. But the language will definitely not turn out to be cheap either. In this regard, it is not surprising that the devices received a very thin screen bezel. Because of it, however, it is extremely difficult to evaluate the design of monitors. And certainly not one of them is the best. You have to focus only on the stand, and in four cases out of five it turned out to be swept. Only at ASUS it looks the most boring. Want to get rid of her. There is such an opportunity, because on the back panel of this model there are holes for wall mounting. Like all competitors.
Name | Dimensions | The weight |
AOC 27G2AE | 612x526x227mm | 4.65 kg |
ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ | 713x481x233 mm | 9.13 kg |
LG 27GL850-B | 614x575x274mm | 6.1 kg |
Samsung Odyssey G5 C27G54TQW | 617x477x273mm | 4.5 kg |
Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming | 810x520x243mm | 8 kg |
The devices included in our comparison have a slightly different screen size. That is why the difference is noticeable in the weight of the monitors. The lightest are those models whose screen diagonal does not exceed 27 inches. But even they turned out to be very stable - it will definitely not be possible to overturn them with an accidental touch.
Now the cost of the monitor depends not only on its display, but also on the thoughtfulness of the stand. In this regard, the ASUS product is of particular interest. There is a bracket here that allows you to organize the wires. The stand itself gives the owner the opportunity to change the height and tilt of the screen, as well as at any time to turn it to the person sitting opposite. Only portrait orientation is not available here. This problem is not observed in LG, which also received a very thoughtful stand, albeit seemingly flimsy. On it, by the way, there is a special hook on which you can put headphones. There is also a small bracket on the back of the monitor that serves to support the mouse or keyboard cable.

2. Display
The most important part of any monitorWe tried to select devices with a screen diagonal close to 27 inches. Only Xiaomi did not have such a model - this company produces only a much larger monitor. However, many will be delighted with the 34-inch display. In some network shooter, he will not allow the enemy to sneak up from somewhere on the side. And in a professional application, such a diagonal will provide access to the largest number of interface elements. We can say that the ratio of 21:9 replaces one and a half monitors.
Three of the five models have a curved screen. In the case of Xiaomi, this really benefits, because its display turned out to be very wide. If we talk about Samsung and ASUS, then the curvature does not play a special role here. Four devices are ready to boast 2K resolution. This means that you will be able to view photos in high detail. But at the same time, this indicates a serious load on the processor and video card.If you want to experience the beauty of a 144Hz refresh rate, you'll need to get yourself a pretty powerful PC. That is why in some cases it makes sense to buy AOC 27G2AE. The screen of this model has a standard Full HD resolution. Perhaps it should be recommended for installation in an office where you work with text or code, but nothing more.
Name | Diagonal | Permission | Matrix type | Frequency | Response time | Brightness | Backlight type |
AOC 27G2AE | 27 inches | 1920x1080 pixels | IPS | 144 Hz | 1 ms | 250 cd/m2 | WLED |
ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ | 31.5 inches | 2560x1440 pixels | VA | 144 Hz | 1 ms | 400 cd/m2 | QLED |
LG 27GL850-B | 27 inches | 2560x1440 pixels | IPS | 144 Hz | 1 ms | 350 cd/m2 | WLED |
Samsung Odyssey G5 C27G54TQW | 27 inches | 2560x1440 pixels | VA | 144 Hz | 1 ms | 250 cd/m2 | WLED |
Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming | 34 inches | 3440x1440 pixels | VA | 144 Hz | 4 ms | 300 cd/m2 | WLED |
Please note that the display of three monitors is made using VA technology. It is this screen that will most please you with the depth of black. It is not surprising that photographers and video editors usually make the choice in favor of a monitor equipped with this screen. However, this LCD panel has one drawback. It doesn't have the best viewing angles. This is partly why monitor manufacturers make the screen curved. As for AOC and LG, they are endowed with an IPS display.
All the models we have chosen are at least partly playable. In this regard, one should not be surprised that in the corresponding mode, the response time is reduced to 1 ms (only Xiaomi has this parameter equal to 4 ms). And they all boast flicker-free backlighting. And ASUS stands out with the brightness of this very backlight, increased to 400 cd / sq. m.There is a feeling that HDR content will look best on this device.

3. Sound
Some modern monitors boast their own speakers. If the device is purchased for use in the office, then it makes sense to consider buying a model with built-in acoustics. It has ASUS and AOC. Of course, you should not count on high volume, as well as on well-felt bass. If the office will be writing music or editing videos, then the built-in speakers with a total power of 4 W will definitely not be enough.
Name | Number of speakers | Total power |
AOC 27G2AE | 2 | 4 W |
ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ | 2 | 4 W |
LG 27GL850-B | - | - |
Samsung Odyssey G5 C27G54TQW | - | - |
Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming | - | - |
Interestingly, absolutely all the monitors we have chosen have a headphone output. Even if they do not have built-in acoustics. The headphone volume can be adjusted either through the operating system or through the corresponding menu. We will not greatly reduce the assessment of those models that do not have their own speakers. The fact is that 97% of buyers would not use them anyway.

4. Connectors
What sockets are used to connect the monitor to the computer? Now more and more often the picture is displayed from a PC to the screen via DisplayPort. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is available in all the monitors we compare. And Xiaomi received two such connectors at once! It also has the same number of HDMI inputs on its rear panel. It turns out that this device can be used to receive images from a very large number of sources - for example, from a computer, a game console, and some other equipment. The same number of interfaces is observed only in AOC, but the second DisplayPort has been replaced with an outdated VGA.
Name | HDMI | display port | VGA | USBconcentrator | Audio |
AOC 27G2AE | 2 pcs. | 1 PC. | 1 PC. | - | 3.5mm stereo output |
ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ | 2 pcs. | 1 PC. | - | - | 3.5mm |
LG 27GL850-B | 2 pcs. | 1 PC. | - | + | 3.5mm stereo output |
Samsung Odyssey G5 C27G54TQW | 1 PC. | 1 PC. | - | - | 3.5mm |
Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming | 2 pcs. | 2 pcs. | - | - | 3.5mm |
Monitors provide some other connectors as well. The headphone output has already been mentioned above. LG and AOC allow you to connect speakers as well. A USB hub, which is present exclusively in a device from the South Korean company LG, will also seem useful to someone. Of course, for its successful operation, you will need to connect the appropriate cable to the high-speed USB connector of your computer.

5. Software
Some models have interesting gaming functionalityEach of the monitors boasts support for FreeSync technology. This feature can be called horizontal sync. With it, you can count on the fact that during the game you will not see moments when the frames from the upper and lower halves of the display do not coincide with each other. At least if you buy Samsung or Xiaomi, since only they have this technology activated even when playing at a resolution higher than Full HD. It should be noted that this feature is relevant for AMD graphics card owners. If NVIDIA is at your disposal, then you need to look towards LG or the same Xiaomi, since G-Sync is listed in the list of technologies they support.
As mentioned above, all five monitors are considered gaming. Therefore, they are endowed with the corresponding functions. AOC received six specific modes at once. This allows you to change the image display settings depending on the genre of the game you are about to play. Also, this monitor is able to quickly brighten the dark areas of the screen, so that none of the opponents hide in the shadows. ASUS allows you to display crosshair, FPS counter and timer. In a word, he will let you make sure that his matrix has a refresh rate of 144 Hz. However, modern video cards are already capable of displaying the corresponding counter; additional software is not required today.
LG is positioning its monitor as a gaming monitor. However, if you go through its settings, then the menu reveals only one function that can be activated in games. This is the display in the center of the crosshair screen. Not very helpful. However, Samsung has the same problem. And this is against the backdrop of a very functional game mode in modern TVs from this company! It is felt that the South Koreans do not make a special bet on their monitors, they prefer to make money on other products.
As for Xiaomi, the main problem with the interface it uses is the lack of the Russian language. However, basic knowledge of English words is enough to make the initial setup. Of the interesting gaming features, only the FPS counter can be noted. Also, this monitor has a picture-in-picture mode, when an image is simultaneously displayed from two sources at once.
6. Power Supply
Will the device require free space under the table?A few words need to be said about the power supply. The best monitors don't have it. More precisely, they use a built-in power supply located somewhere under the case. This implementation is observed in Xiaomi and the relatively inexpensive AOC. These models are connected to the mains using a conventional plug.
Name | Power Supply | Power consumption |
AOC 27G2AE | built-in | 25 W |
ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ | External | 90 W |
LG 27GL850-B | External | 51 W |
Samsung Odyssey G5 C27G54TQW | External | 36 W |
Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming | built-in | 54 W |
As for the other three monitors, they use an external power supply. It will take place under the table. And it can also get in the way at the moment when you are going to vacuum your room. However, these are minor inconveniences, so we have no right to greatly reduce the score for this.
7. Price
Monitors are by no means the same price tagThe higher the screen resolution, the more expensive the device will be. In this regard, the most affordable monitor in our today's comparison turned out to be the AOC 24G2AE. Also, the manufacturer managed to reduce the price tag by using standard IPS display technology. Unfortunately, this led to a not very high backlight brightness, which will definitely not suit movie lovers. Diagonal, which is 27 inches, is also capable of upsetting them. In a word, such a monitor will definitely not replace a TV. Even though it can be paired with a PS4 Slim console (it does not have an optical audio output, which leaves monitors without built-in speakers and audio output overboard).
Name | average price |
AOC 27G2AE | 23 000 rub. |
ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ | 42 500 rub. |
LG 27GL850-B | 34 500 rub. |
Samsung Odyssey G5 C27G54TQW | 27 800 rub. |
Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming | 42 500 rub. |
The most expensive device is made by ASUS. She knows a lot about gaming devices! However, here I still want to say that a serious overpayment for the brand awaits you. At least, this impression does not disappear for a long time. Which is not available when buying an equally expensive Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming. Yes, the response time is higher here. Yes, the screen of the Chinese monitor is not capable of boasting a record backlight brightness. But then you get a display with an aspect ratio of 21:9! This option will be useful both in games and when working in professional programs. But you need to remember that such a wide monitor will not fit on every table!

8. Comparison results
Who can be called the winner?Usually, one or two clear leaders are quickly identified in such materials. But in the case of monitors at 144 Hz, everything turned out a little differently. None of the models can be called an ideal choice. Even the device from Xiaomi, which received the highest average score. First, not everyone will be satisfied with the response time of 4 ms. For a Counter-Strike lover, this is like death! Secondly, the monitor takes up too much space. And someone will complain about the inability to rotate it 90 degrees, having achieved portrait orientation.
As for the other four monitors, they turned out to be approximately equal. It seems to us that only AOC is slightly inferior to competitors, and even then only because of the lower resolution. It would be possible to recommend an ASUS product for purchase, but it is too expensive. If the price is one of the most important parameters for you, then it is better to look towards the model released by the South Korean company Samsung.
