Xiaomi 12 or Samsung S22 – which smartphone is better to choose?

If in recent years smartphones have sought to reach the consumer with the maximum screen size, now the battle for the title of the smallest flagship begins. And Samsung in this regard managed to lead. Since 2019, the fellow Korean S10e has been considered the most compact, but this model already belongs to the “antiquities removed from sale”.

The body of both beauties is made of high-quality aluminum alloy, already a premium material. But Samsung in the hands feels more reliable in terms of assembly, it somehow lies more confidently, although it is lighter and thinner.

Again, the Chinese regretted at least some protection from moisture and dust. For additional buns, the price tag will immediately rise. We lose in one - we gain in another. Finally, I would like to note one more pleasant detail in the design. The bottom frame of the Samsung screen does not differ in thickness from the side ones, yet how cool it looks - stylish, expensive and elegant.

Both Korean and Chinese are made to fit miniature gadgets. The time is already running out when it is comfortable to play at 6 inches, you want more. But in the role of dialers, for messengers and a navigator, both phones are convenient and compact.And if you don’t need anything else, then choose a comfortable size for your hand: 6.1 inches vs 6.28 inches. Both smartphones are protected by Gorilla Glass 7 panels on the front, which will be more difficult to scratch than previous versions of the glass.

But in terms of sampling rate (that is, the number of processed touches to the screen), Xiaomi is the leader. Just right for Fruit Ninja toy lovers to quickly shred fruit. The values ​​differ by a factor of 2: compare 240 Hz for Korean and 480 Hz for Chinese. Coverage of up to a billion colors cannot leave indifferent (at least the number itself) the future owner of Xiaomi. Unfortunately, the South Korean competitor could not reach this bar. But at peak brightness, Samsung slightly outweighed the palm (1300 vs. 1100 cd/m²).

It is interesting to note that the Exynos chip is used for the international version of the Korean flagship. For the American, Korean and Chinese market, the models will be stuffed with Snapdragon 8 Gen1. If we compare objectively, then the picture is approximately the following. Exynos will give you a better GPU frequency. It looks great for gamers who like powerful games at maximum speed, but only on paper.

In fact, developers optimize toys mainly for Snapdragon (here it is, popularity in all its glory). Yes, and the frequency of the processor will be larger (3000 versus 2800 MHz). Albeit with a bit of a stretch, but Xiaomi drags this stage of the competition. The same AnTuTu estimates the Korean representative at 965k parrots, and the Chinese as much as 1012k parrots.

It's great to use 5G bands in Mexico. But not in Russia: until everything gets better here, you will have time to update the device several times. Therefore, we will start from existing realities, not prospects.

A significant difference between the two compared devices is that Xiaomi has an infrared port. Although such a whim is individual, most do not even imagine its purpose. And I want to express a couple of affectionate ones from fans of using wired headphones. Or constantly carry an adapter with you (and not every grocery store has it), or get used to a wireless headset. So the classic 3.5 mm port remains just a myth for both smartphones.

There is good news for music lovers. Both smartphones have excellent built-in stereo speakers, which are created together with well-known audio brands. Music lovers, get ready to enjoy the quality.

According to the manufacturer, everything will be fine in Russia, without precipitation and without 5G. And in connection with the current circumstances, it is still unknown when these magical abbreviations will appear in our country. In any case, no one canceled the use of communications at lower frequencies.

At a minimum, we see that in Russia both smartphones will work perfectly with all operators. By the way, I remember one interesting moment. When 4G (fourth generation) just started to appear, people were extremely skeptical. The whole reason was in their belief that such technology discharges the phone too quickly. This means that devices of a huge size are now needed. Look at your smartphones, remember the radio tubes from the 90s and compare the dimensions. How do you like 4G?

Samsungs are hard to fight in their home field. Only if stubborn products (Apple) can compete. Even with the same main matrix, the Korean is easily ahead of the competition in terms of photo quality. This is where the "minor assistants" of the camera play an important role.

Therefore, it is better to see once than only hear about the quality of cameras from a Korean.

A small display is not a reason to cut yourself in all the blessings. But reducing the capacity to a 3700 mAh battery is already a little upsetting. When there is powerful hardware under the hood, I would like a little more autonomous power. But what is there, because the benchmark for Samsung s22 was its compact dimensions. So lightened the weight, reduced the screen. But the proportions with the battery are still controversial, whatever one may say.

The Chinese man gains weight a little due to the additional 800 mAh. But the big advantage is actually fast charging: 67 versus 25 watts the difference is felt. Both models will delight the user with reverse charging. True, Samsung has it wireless. So keep this fact in mind if you want to recharge a friend.

Firstly, these are flagships, not state employees for the mass market for 20 thousand. Here you have a metal case, and a filling of the latest components. Secondly, only models are released to the market. The excitement around new products always starts with a maximum, over time the price will decrease (probably, but not a fact). Thirdly, you pay for the brand, quality and well-deserved name, and not the basement "abibos".

And given the current market conditions, it is not known at what price tags you will receive the next new smartphones. Their cost can easily exceed the 6-digit number. Judging objectively, the price-quality ratio is as close as possible to reality for Xiaomi. Samsung lays a good share for the brand name, advertising companies. But when you're looking for high-quality photos at the expense of power, then the choice is obvious in favor of the South Korean logo in your pocket.

Based on a comprehensive review of two competitors, Chinese Xiaomi and Korean Samsung, it is worth highlighting the main advantages of each. Xiaomi 12 will delight the user with an excellent processor, fast charging, an infrared port and a larger battery capacity. But the lack of protection from moisture and dust makes the Chinese "defenseless baby" in front of natural phenomena.

Samsung impresses with the quality of the cameras (an indisputable fact so far), IP68, the build quality of the device is better. But a small battery and charging speed together give a big minus for the autonomy of the smartphone. That is, get ready to often look for an outlet or carry a portable charger with you.
