10 Valeo

The French brand has a large sphere of influence in the European market, but we are better known as a supplier of spark plugs to replace the Czech Brisk models. Indeed, from the point of view of working moments, the range of companies listed has a lot in common, ranging from a similar work resource to consumption efficiency indicators. However, there is one negative nuance that was noticed when the engine was running on Valeo candles: the stability of work suffers significantly due to the presence of gaps (especially at low voltage).

As an example of Valeo products, we single out one, but very popular model of the R76H11 spark plug, which has standard parameters for single-electrode spark plugs. Their small minus: the lack of marking on the preferred engines and the interelectrode gap. Advantages: good indicators of engine power surge (1.7-2.1%) and fuel economy (up to 2.0%).

9 Finwhale

The first, but not the only representative of Germany in the overall ranking, whose spark plugs are of medium popularity in the domestic market.Most of all, consumables from Finwhale love service centers: it is from their supply that candles from this company fall under the hoods of serviced cars (mainly in VAZ, Hyundai, old Fords and Mazdas).

According to consumers, the working resource of Finwhale spark plugs ranges from 40 to 80 thousand kilometers, and (logically) is highly dependent on the operation of the vehicle. As representatives of the company, we can single out the F508 and F706 models, the main advantages of which are the low price and the absence of fakes that are often found on more well-known manufacturers. Another not the most noticeable in Russia, but a very strong player in the spark plug market, the sets of which are used as standard consumables from the assembly line. There are four series in the SCT assortment, clearly divided by operational rank:

• Classic - candles with a copper core to ensure efficient heat dissipation, produced for both new cars and old-style engines (up to the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang, as well as the popular Plymouths).
• Perfect - Extended range spark plugs with a tapered insulator tip for a faster spark plug self-cleaning process.
• Platin - platinum-coated candles, the resource of which in most cases reaches 90 thousand kilometers.It is installed mainly on expensive cars (Porsche, Jaguar, Lexus, etc.), as well as on foreign cars that are widespread in Russia (Nissan, Honda, Toyota, French Renault and Peugeot").
• Tuning is a special series of spark plugs that work in extreme conditions. The arrester of these models sits deep into the combustion chamber, providing an increased combustion rate of the mixture in the initial phase of compression.

7 "Engels Plant"

Perhaps the only worthy representative of the Russian segment of spark plug manufacturers, producing strong analogues of foreign-made models. Their main feature is the low price for the entire range, accompanied by good quality parameters and duration of use.

One of the brightest representatives of the Standard series, “mixed” with the use of a nickel alloy, is the EZ-Standard T17DVRM 3.0 spark plug with three side electrodes. In terms of efficiency, this model is very close to the performance of Bosch WR7DPX (the leader in the expert test selection), assuming high environmental friendliness (about 8% of single-electrode samples) and reduced fuel consumption (on average by 2%). Among the EZ series of yttrium spark plugs, the WR7DC + model with a 0.8 mm gap and a V-shaped groove on the only side electrode (which increases sparking) can be distinguished. The given models perfectly show themselves in domestic LADA cars and used running foreign cars - Mercedes, BMW, Nissan, Hyundai, etc.

6 beru

The German company Beru is another titled representative of Europe, whose candles are very often placed on domestic cars of the LADA (or VAZ) brand. They are distinguished by non-standard solutions in terms of the geometry of contact pairs, low (50/50 by assortment) price and long uninterrupted service life.

From a huge list of representatives, we will give personal preference to the four-pin Beru ULTRA-X79 model with an asymmetric arrangement of paired side electrodes to increase spark stability at normal and low mains voltage. It is not afraid of soot, does an excellent job of igniting fuel (raising fuel efficiency by 1.7%) and is suitable for natural gas engines. Second example: BERU Z51 with two side contacts flush with the end of the center electrode. This candle is distinguished by a small boost in engine power (1.4-1.8%), a reduction in consumption, and is used as an alternative to the base ones on running foreign cars of our country (Chevrolet, Hyundai, Nissan, Renault, etc. .d.).

5 Champion

An American spark plug giant with contracts for the supply of products to Lexus, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, etc. conveyor lines. He has a tendency to constantly experiment with the geometric parameters of the electrodes, as well as to create experimental models for strictly defined operating conditions.

The Champion N9BYC4 three-pronged spark plug, which, ironically, did not inherit any of the unique "experimental" features, can be called Champion's iconic development.It is canonical, very durable, and is used on the most popular car brands in Russia: from LADA to Hyundai, Chevrolet and Renault. The second “favourite of the audience”, Champion RN9 YCC, has only one side electrode, but boasts a copper core, which increases its durability (relative to nickel candles) by about 2 times. It is inexpensive and runs mostly on Asian cars.

4 Denso

Another Japanese manufacturer, under whose department is the development of four different series of spark plugs:

• standard. Representatives of this series are made from a nickel alloy, without the addition of alloying elements and spraying. It is distinguished by the presence of a U-shaped groove on the side electrodes, which increases the efficiency of fuel combustion in the chamber. A striking example is the Denso W20EPR-U.
• Platinum. Wear-resistant spark plugs with platinum coating on the electrode part and a thin tip of the central electrode. They have a significant reserve of working resource and can be used for 60 thousand kilometers.
• irridium. In general, it is very similar to the platinum series (in terms of the structure of the central electrode), but even more wear-resistant due to iridium alloying. An example of such a spark plug is the Denso Iridium IW20 model, which is widely used in cars with a natural gas engine.
• Twin tip. Despite the use of nickel as an electrode material, this series has the highest performance parameters, which is achieved through the use of new technologies.

3 Brisk

The Czech company Brisk is one of the strongest representatives of Europe in this market segment. It is distinguished by the presence of seven enlarged series of spark plugs developed for a particular type of car. The advantage of this production method is that here you can find a spark plug for absolutely any engine. The disadvantage is that it is very easy to get confused by the endless subcategories and models.

Perhaps the most popular among domestic motorists is the candle of the Brisk Premium LOR15LGS model. The fact is that its design is a break in all the patterns of canonical production, expressed in a significant underestimation and distance of the four side contacts in relation to the central electrode. Due to this configuration, the spark at rated voltage travels a longer path through the insulator and, as a result, provides a more complete ignition of the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. A worthy representative of the company, used in VAZ, Chevrolet, BMW and running Koreans (Hyundai, Kia).

2 NGK

Throughout its history, the Japanese company NGK has produced many worthy spark plugs for gasoline engines. All of them were distinguished by adequate prices, extended service life (up to 60 thousand kilometers), constant modifications of the geometric visual parameters of the electrode part, as well as reduced fuel consumption. However, at the moment, the merit of the company is the creation of a magnificent (in every sense) spark plug for engines with gas equipment, covering the needs of 90% of the market.

From the first category of representatives, let's take as an example a two-pin candle NGK BKR6EK with a V-shaped groove on the central electrode. This decision made it possible to increase the spark burning area, which affected the completeness of fuel combustion in the chamber, power inflow and efficiency. For gas engines, the NGK LPG Line No. 2 model was invented, which became the focus of technological research. It showed a significant increase in the power of the natural gas engine (by 3%) and ensured high stability.

1 Bosch

The large German corporation Bosch, whose production circle also affected the creation of spark plugs for gasoline engines, could not pass by the rating of the best. The trademark of the Germans was the use of the standard geometry of the electrode and insulating parts, with small (even point) changes in the gaps, the materials used, including alloying components. The second brand feature affects the cost of products: the vast majority of the segment's products belong to the budget category.

One of the most popular candles from Bosch in Russia are the Bosch FR7LDC + models (two-pin, with yttrium doping of the central electrode and a copper core), as well as Bosch W7 DTC with increased fuel efficiency (reduces gasoline consumption by 3.2% compared to single-electrode models). These candles are often installed on VAZ cars, as well as foreign brands Nissan, Chevrolet, Toyota, etc.
